The office of Treasurer was created under Article 9, Section 4 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. "The County Code" determines the requirements and functions of the office, which was established by Act of August 9,1955.

 

The county treasurer is elected for a term of four years. The treasurer and staff are responsible for recording and depositing all monies received by the county and releasing and disbursing all expenditures on the treasury.  Monies received consist of payments of county taxes, county fees, as well as State and Federal grants.  The treasurer is also responsible for investing County funds in short or intermediate term investments until such funds are needed for disbursement.

The County Treasurer acts as the primary agent on behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the sales of licenses and permits, including:
